2015 Judging Rubric

  1. Do I understand what the team accomplished?
  2. Is the wiki attractive and easy to navigate?
  3. Does the team provide convincing evidence to support their conclusions?
  4. How complete is the team's effort to attribute work?
  5. Will the wiki be a compelling record of the team's project for future teams?

Design Notes

Technical

  • Basic form of wiki: Use a template that contains our CSS, JS, and basic layout inc. navigation and include this at the top of every page. Currently Template:Glasgow is the default supplied template, and work is being carried out in Template:GlasgowDev
  • When linking to 'external' stylsheets or scripts, use the form "2016.igem.org/wiki/index.php?title=PAGE_TITLE&action=raw&ctype=text/(css/javascript)". This will return the raw contents of PAGE_TITLE, and seems to be much less finicky than using Templates or wikilinks.

Typography

I'm assuming the use of external web fonts is acceptable, as in the (very unlikely) scenario they break we can provide fallback fonts that means all content remains readable.

  • The logo and headlines use Baloo, a Google webfont by EkType. As well as looking good, it has the nifty advantage of containing glyphs for a variety of indian scripts which has potential to tie in quite nicely with our Human Practices.
  • We'll use Lato for body text. It's simple, modern and easy to read although only contains Latin characters.
