Take a look back at the 2015 Giant Jamboree!

ABOUT iGEM 2016

The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition is the main program at the iGEM Foundation. The iGEM Competition is the premiere student team competition in Synthetic Biology.

For over 10 years, iGEM has been encouraging university and high school student researchers to work in teams and solve real-world challenges by building genetically engineered biological systems with standard, interchangeable parts called BioBricks from the Registry of Standard Biological Parts. Participation in the iGEM completion empowers teams to manage their own projects, advocate for their research, and secure funding. Teams are also challenged to actively consider and address the safety, security and environmental implications of their work.

The Giant Jamboree is an annual event that showcases work from the iGEM completion season. All collegiate and high school iGEM teams are invited to present their synthetic biology projects and compete for prizes. This year, the Hynes Convention Center, located in historic Boston, MA, will host more than 300 international, multidisciplinary teams eager to share and celebrate their work.
