- Non-pathogenic DH5 Alpha E. coli cells were used exclusively.
- Nitrile gloves, lab coats, and safety glasses were used at all times during lab work.
- Proper sterile laboratory technique was used at all times during lab work.
- Antibiotics were carefully handled and only used when necessary.
- The mutagen Ethidium Bromide (EtBr) was used frequently for gel electrophoresis and only in a designated area of the laboratory. Extreme care was used when preparing EtBr gels.
- All biological and other waste was disposed of in the proper containers.
