Our lab

We have our own iGEM TU Delft laboratorium, in the new Applied Science building on the TU Delft campus. It is classified as a ML-1 lab, the lowest safety level, which is enough for our experiments. We are still improving our skills in here. Besides this lab we were also using an optical lab, which is also a ML-1 laboratorium. In here we are building our own laser set-up, it’s the heart of our laser project.

Our office

Our office is our workplace for all the side tracks of our project, like the safety tool, the website, the model, all those nice things were created in here. Due to the moving to a new building, we had to wait a few months to use it. When we finally got it we made it our home and used the whole wall for nice discussions. Next to our office you can find our meeting room, where the meetings with our TA’s and PI’s took place.

Lab safety

Our lab is classified the lowest safety level (level 1), meaning that our experiments involve low or no risk. All the members of the team have successfully completed the following safety tests: Lab safety test General safety test of the building we work in Biological safety test for ML-1 lab General safety test of the old building we worked in All the members of the team have received safety training, including: Introduction to sterile working General lab training (using a PCR, making gels, etc.) General safety information, regarding contact persons and locations The safety of our experiments was supervised by Erwin van Rijn (Safety Manager of the lab) and Jeremie Capoulade (Safety Manager of the lasers). The supplies we needed in the lab were provided with the help of our instructor Esengül Yildirim. The research has been conducted with respect to the regulations of biosafety for The Netherlands, that can be found here.
