Welcome To The Team
The Mom
Astrid is our teams mom. She is 1 out of 6 biomedicine science majors in our team, and started her 5. Semester this summer. She was born and raised in Odense, and therefore knows different routes to the same destination in the city. Astrid is 22 years old, she enjoys an active lifestyle with frequent biking or jogging in the woods and she really loves travelling. However, this poses a problem, because as she puts it: “I have the time, but not the money to travel as much as I want”. One of her biggest dreams is to work with the central nervous system – either in a research group or in the medical industry. The central nervous system is well studied, but we still have much to learn and Astrid will contribute with discoveries in this field. Astrid joined the iGEM team from SDU to get an amazing experience, which could strengthen her qualifications in her field, teach her to research, and to be a part of a team with one concerted goal. And because she loves travelling, joining the big jamboree in Boston, US, was a lovely bonus. Her best experience in iGEM is the ping-pong discussion when things do not succeed, and in the end, when success is based on it. A fun fact is that she is fond of baking, but the best part of baking is when others enjoy it.
