Our Project
Quorom sensing (QS) allows bacteria to sense the surrounding cell population and "communicate" with their neighbors. Bacteria do this by releasing an inducer protein, such as a N-acyl homoserine lactone (AHL), which upon reaching a certain concentration, will activate genes that increase cell density. Our project aims to characterize a variety of HSL networks, increasing the number of functional QS systems with minimal crosstalk in synthetic biology.
