This week we planned to replicate the Stanford experiment described here. We inoculated fresh cultures of all the samples to be tested.

We carried out the Stanford experiment as closely as possible with the equipment we had over the same time period, the same volumes of LB and cells. The only difference is that our powerpack delivered 400mA at 28V compared to the 65V used by Stanford. We used two gel tanks simultaneously testing both of out bulb constructs (BBa_K1895000 and BBa_K1895006) and measuring temperature throughout.

After being unsuccessful the previous day in replicating the results shown by Stanford we decided to make slight modifications to the protocol in an attempt to repeat them. However, even with these changes the results were not as expected.
