The Humanity in synthetic biology
A big part of participating in iGEM is spreading the word about synthetic biology and the applications it can be used for. Therefore we have done a lot of outreach. We have talked with different sectors of the society, e.g. high school students. We have also been reaching out to experts and companies in order to get their point of view on our project. This has helped us developing our Bacto-Aid and integrate these new parts and insights into our project. They have also helped us developing ideas for the future perspectives of our Bacto-Aid and Biobricks.
There are still a lot of work to do before our Bacto-Aid can be commercialized. However, we have a plan for how to get there and you can read more about that in Prospects. We have likewise been discussing the bioethical perspective on our project and used this for reflection of how Bacto-Aid can be a part of the future and which effect this will have on the society.
