About Us

The Lubbock_TTU Team is part of a student organization at Texas Tech University known as iGEM Raiders. Our mission is to expose the university and community to synthetic biology through undergraduate initiative and involvement in the International Genetically Engineering Machine (iGEM) Competition.

This year, the iGEM Raiders team is composed of 14 dedicated undergraduate and graduate students with backgrounds in microbiology, animal science, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, mathematics, physics, and chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering. The diversity within our team enables the iGEM Raiders to tackle novel project ideas.

  • Diane Ha is a 4th year student studying Physics. She is on Dry Lab team and is the wiki developer. She hopes to work with robotics at NASA in the future. Her hobbies include watching cartoons and painting.

  • Ellen Wilson is a junior Biochemistry major and serves as Wet Lab Assistant. She plans to attend medical school and become a doctor of family medicine. In her free time, she enjoys reading, Zumba, and being outdoors.

  • Zachary Nguyen is a Cell and Molecular Biology major and serves as a Wet Lab assistant. After college, he plans to attend medical school and become a surgical oncologist. His hobbies include trying out new restaurants and going on adventures with his friends.
