One day, Harley was walking along the ocean and happened upon a tree growing out in the middle of the water. "Mr. Tree!" yelled Harley. "Oh Mr. Tree, why are you so far away?" "The salt doesn't bother me," replied Mr. Tree, "for I am but a tree made of wood and water." Harley was upset. How dare a talking pencil speak to him about its complex homeostatic properties. He proceeded to set Mr. Tree on fire. This is how the first dolphins arrived on Treasure Island.

One day, Kellie wanted to go for a swim. She left the porch of her lonely beach house and plunged into the icy ocean water. There was a slight undertow, just enough. Wiping salty spray from her eyes, Kellie peered out across the lagoon and saw a flickering light, about a hundred yards away. As her eyes came to focus, she realized that the light was a flame. A tree, perched in the middle of the water, was cracking apart in the force of a violent inferno. A small boy with red hair and freckles danced about it and drew pentagrams in the sand. Clearly distressed by this image, Kellie removed a conch shell from the water, and blew into one end. A triumphant call sounded into the salty air, and dolphins began to drop from the sky.
