Adviser
Xiaopeng Gao
Hi, I am Xiaopeng Gao from Beijing Institute of Technology. As an advisor
of BIT-China, I have given a lot of proposals to our program which is just
like our baby. What’s more, I have devoted myself to this
program and pinned great hope on it.
My major is biochemical engineering and the field of my research is
metabolic engineering and synthetic biology,
so iGEM is a rare chance for me to use my major strength to solve practical problems.
After year-long preparation, I have been head over
heels in love with our program and harvested a lot. I really appreciate iGEM.
Beijia Han
My name is Beijia Han, I’m a master student in School of Life Science,
Beijing Institute of Technology. My major is Biology and my research is
focus on enzyme modification. Luckily, I join in the 2016 iGEM competition as
an adviser in BIT-China, and there is a four-year history of our
team (BIT-China) representing our school to attend this prestigious
competition to show our research projects. This year our team project
is mainly about population quality control. As an adviser, my mission
is to help the undergraduate students to solve the problems in this
research and give proper suggestions. It is a challenging task,
but I love this feeling that we fight together.
Anqi Zhou
Hi. I’m Ariel, an enthusiastic and motivated student with great interest
in synthetic biology. I’m currently doing my master in Biochemical
Engineering. iGEM offers me an excellent opportunity to explore
mystery and fun of biology, and I really enjoy the process of
scientific research .The most amazing part of iGEM which attracts
me is to use knowledge and experience I have by doing the things
I love to create things that can make the world a better place.
Besides experiments, I have a real passion for traveling around the world and
tasting delicious food, because i believe either your body or soul must be on the way.
Liang Zhang
Hi, I am Liang Zhang and from Beijing Institute of Technology.
As an advisor of BIT-China, I gave a lot of proposals to our program and our program is just
like our baby. We devote ourselves to the research and to make it better is our biggest wish.
My major is biology and the field of research is enzyme engineering, so for me,
this is the first time to touch the synthetic biology. After a yearlong preparation,
I am head over heels in love with it and I harvested a lot. Thanks to iGEM.

Qi Liu
I am Qi Liu majoring in bioengineering. This is my first time taking part in iGEM, and I gain a lot from the process of doing experiment, solving some problems, and I also learn a lot from my classmates. We work as team, helping each other not only doing experiments, But also giving some suggestions, for example, we have a regular meeting each week, we put forward our questions, and then professors and team members will give us some solutions. I am so happy to be a member of such team whenever you meet problems, there are also somebody willing to help you. -
Jinpeng Wu
Hello.I’m Jinpeng Wu,a student of Yan’an University.I participated in the iGEM competition to get new experiences in the field of sythetic biology.because it is a very fascinating and exciting topic in my studies for me. During the iGEM project I have learned to designed several experiments and strengthened the skills of experiment. If there is a chance , I will take part in iGEM again. -
Zhuoxin Wang
Hi. It's my first year to be an iGEMer. I am so honor to join this team and gain a lot of precious experience in this project. To be honest, this is the most amazing summer that I ever have.
I am that kind of people who adore drawing and handcraft, because it can make me like an awesome person. If you also a big fan of drawing and handcraft, we can talk more about it.
Let us enjoin this giant jamboree. -
Hui Luo
Hi~ I’m Hui Luo. This is my second year to attend IGEM competition. A lot of challenges and funny things come together to my life. I’m fascinated about science and technology. IGEM gives me a great opportunity to touch my dream science and have a unique experience to intensively work on a project with my lovely teammates.
Actually, I’d love to become a well-rounded person, which means I can not only understand the scientific books but also know how to arrange my daily life. I’m not good at these kinds of things, but I’m trying to make efforts. -
Lianjie Ma
Hi, dear. I’m Lianjie Ma. It’s my first year for iGEM. I do hope we can be good friends.
I belong to very typical slow person, but that won’t be the blocks between you and me. If you are interested in Korean teleplay or losing weight (smile bitterly), come to find me at BIT-China.
I can hardly wait to see you in Boston! -
Kang Ma
Kang is named by my father, which in Chinese, means never give up and stay positive.
This is my first year to be an IGEMer. Changing the DNA of bacterial and making them work for us is the coolest thing I have ever done.
In my spare time, I play ping-pong and basketball, I like songs of Birdy and Ed sheeran. But now, more than anything, I want to go home and have dinner with my families. -
Lirong Zhao
I major in chemical industry. Loving science, loving nature, loving biology, loving international technology, and loving iGEM, these features combine into me.
In our team, I am a new member and responsible for experiment and wiki, also learn a lot through the whole process.
People can only see the outward gorgeousness but the inward rough. Chasing dream is doomed to be a lonely journey, there will always be challenge and ridicule throughout the way. Even covered with wounds and cuts, we still should live beautiful for our own. Be chillax, and be graceful, remember we finally speak for ourselves. -
Hongyu Yang
Major in biological. I feel honored to participate in the iGEM. I’m freshman for iGEM, I’m so happy to be an iGEMer. I love rising to the challenge, IGEM is a challenge for me. But I believe I can do it very well. Success calls for hard work and perseverance. I believe I can grow up and become a strong person in the future. -

My Chinese name is Hu Pengjing; also, you can call my English name Beaz. I come from China. I like biology and soccer. If you also have the same dream, I will be together with you!
Synthetic biology gives us a chance to create all kinds of fungus with different superpowers. I don’t have the superpowers but I can give it to bacteria. So I believe that my super bacteria will help the human being one day. -
Pengcheng Zhang
Hello, everyone. I’m Pengcheng Zhang. It is my second year for IGEM. This year, as the leader of BIT-CHINA, I hope I can have a different experience. My major work are the wet and dry experiment.
IGEM is really a good chance to exercise ourselves, I do hope we could enjoy the special trip together. Also I want to do works more independently rather than just rely on team members like last year. -
Jianfang Ren
Hello, everyone! I am Jianfang Ren, a junior student from Yan’an University and major in bioscience. I haven’t learned about iGEM at all. This is my first year for iGEM. I am not the origin member and I join this big family in July. I have learned a lot from this project, and spent a good time in Beijing this summer vacation. I’m an active and friendly girl. Hope be your friend in Boston. -
Ziyin Zhang
Hey, buddies, look here, the story told by Ziyin Zhang is about begin, from the mysterious ancient oriental country, China. With biological engineering professional skills, I crossed thousands of miles to the iGEM in order to create new energy and protect the world. I carried what I have and what you want. What I wish to emphasize here is that my story has unique plots of ups and downs and the enthralling end. If we're lucky to meet each other, I think you'll like it. -

Two years of involvement in BIT-China iGEM team makes me a “housekeeper”, not only developing the research project with experiments but also doing design work to show the public our team. In my free time, I enjoy seeking all kinds of new food experience, except drinks with sugar:( By the way, the protein my favorite is our Killer Group’s hokD! -
